Abstract
Islam clearly prohibits tashwir, but in this case there are differences of opinion among the ulama' regarding the meaning of tashwir. Some believe that the image in question is three-dimensional and has shadows, while other scholars state that tashwir is an absolute image, whether a 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional or ordinary image.
The law of drawing/shaping, painting or sculpting human forms or anything that has a soul (spirit) is fully explained in Islam, such as sculpture, photography, video.
Apart from that, it is also feared that certain types of images can become a means of leading to shirk towards Allah. That is, a person humbles himself in front of the image, and prays to it, and exalts the image with glorification that is not worthy except to Allah SWT and there are elements of competing with Allah's creation and can cause fitnah (ugliness), such as images of celebrities, images of women who are not clothed , famous model, or something like that. This article will discuss those that focus more on images, whether two-, three-dimensional or cartoon images from the perspective of Islamic sharia.
